Rooted in Tradition

Orgullo Boricua AZ began in Phoenix, Arizona, almost 22 years ago by Nydia Stuart.

Nydia founded Orgullo Boricua to preserve Puerto Rican culture for future generations here in Phoenix, Arizona. Rehearsals, classes and community events took place in Nydia's very own home. Eventually, she would open and direct the Puerto Rican Center of Arizona to continue her community work. She and her family have served as a pinnacle of support for the latin community here in Phoenix ever since.

Marangely, Nydia's daughter, has since taken on this leadership role alongside long time friend and supporter, Aurelia. Together they have directed the group in performances all over the valley like at Chase Field Stadium and the Desert Botanical Gardens.

What began as a living room dream is now a lasting legacy.
